Meet Our Board Members
Michelle Davis,
President
Ms. Michelle Davis, a National Certified Counselor, brings extensive expertise to Rest Recovery House. With a master’s degree in trauma counseling from Eastern University, she is deeply committed to helping individuals overcome life’s challenges. Michelle’s approach integrates evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT). Throughout her career, Ms. Davis has compassionately supported children, individuals, couples, and families facing addiction, depression, trauma, anxiety, and other mental health struggles. Her person-centered approach considers clients’ beliefs, backgrounds, and values, fostering holistic healing.
Karin Scheibel,
Vice President
Karin Scheibel, a Pennsylvania State Board Certified substance use disorder counselor, contributes over 10 years of experience to our team. Passionate about clinical services, education, and training, Karin holds an MPH from Temple University and a BA from Syracuse University. Her advocacy focuses on interprofessional collaboration to advance public policy for substance use disorders and prevention. Karin’s research in public health centers on addiction clinical services implementation and the impact of public policy on health outcomes. Her extensive clinical background spans various settings, including forensic, outpatient/intensive outpatient, co-occurring disorders, Medication-Assisted Treatment, and adolescent prevention and early intervention services.
Kendra Gainey, Secretary
A licensed mental health counselor specializing in couples counseling, family counseling, teen issues, and play therapy with young children and adolescents, Kendra Gainey works with individuals and families on their journey towards healing and growth. Through a compassionate and collaborative approach, she provides a safe space for exploring emotions, identifying patterns of behavior, and developing effective coping strategies. By combining evidence-based interventions with a client-centered focus, she aims to empower clients to navigate challenges, cultivate self-awareness, and build stronger, more fulfilling relationships.
Afiyah Amal, Board Member
With over 20 years of experience in human resources, Afiyah Amal has dedicated her career to aiding individuals struggling with substance abuse and women affected by domestic violence. Her journey embodies a relentless commitment to social welfare and community empowerment. As a seasoned professional, she deftly navigates the complexities of HR management. Afiyah advocates for marginalized groups, ensuring equitable treatment and opportunities. Her leadership qualities shine through her strategic vision and compassionate approach. Aspires to leverage her expertise as the chairman, fostering inclusivity and spearheading initiatives that uplift those in need, creating lasting impact and hope in communities nationwide.
Darlene M. Scott, Board Member
Darlene M. Scott, a licensed psychotherapist and educator, brings a wealth of expertise to Rest Recovery House. Her focus areas include trauma therapy, trauma-informed care, nonprofit business management, program oversight, clinical supervision, and public speaking. Actively engaged in clinical research, Ms. Scott also provides consulting services for nonprofit organizations. With over two decades of experience in the human service field, she is currently pursuing a terminal degree in Psychology—a testament to her dedication to serving others.
Quianna Jones, Board Member
Ms. Quianna Jones, a psychiatric Registered Nurse, is on a mission to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. With 18 years of nursing experience across inpatient, home care, and community settings, she has held leadership roles and served on nursing self-governing boards. Quianna maintains professional memberships with the American Nurses Association and the American Association of Neurological Nurses. Nominated multiple times for the Daisy Award for Nurses, she is also the founder and director of Nu Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.—a religious and professional-based nonprofit organization for Muslim nurses. Quianna’s passion lies in nursing, health awareness, and literacy among vulnerable populations.
